wo NIH-Funded Postdoctoral Positions in Zebrafish Neurobiology
Oregon Health & Science University • Department of Cell, Developmental & Cancer Biology

We are seeking two motivated and curious postdoctoral fellows to join our lab, which uses zebrafish to study the development and function of the peripheral nervous system. These positions are supported by active NIH funding and offer a highly collaborative and supportive research environment.

Position 1: A-to-I RNA Editing in Neural Development
This project focuses on understanding the functional consequences of adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing in the developing nervous system. We are particularly interested in how editing influences gene regulation and neuronal subtype identity.
Candidates with strong skills in R and transcriptomic data analysis are especially encouraged to apply.

Position 2: Pioneer Neuron Biology
This project investigates the developmental specification and functional properties of "pioneer" neurons during cranial sensory circuit formation. The position builds on our recent work:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40593691/. We are interested in following questions related to the pioneer neurons’ biology: how pioneer neurons are specified and migrate to their destination, how they interact with surrounding tissues, and what pioneer-specific factors guide follower neurons.

What we offer:

  • Strong institutional and departmental support for postdoctoral training
  • Opportunities to mentor students and present at national/international meetings
  • Modern zebrafish and imaging facilities
  • A collaborative network of developmental, molecular, and computational biologists

To apply:
Send a CV, brief statement of research interests, and contact information for 2–3 references to Alex Nechiporuk
nechipor@ohsu.edu

We welcome applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds and encourage informal inquiries.
