Jeff Farrell, (National Institutes of Health; father of DanioCell) has been awarded the Society for Developmental Biology’s Elizabeth D. Hay New Investigator Award
Elizabeth Patton (Institute of Genetics and Cancer at the University of Edinburgh) has been awarded the 2026 Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Award “for her pioneering work in zebrafish models in melanoma research, outstanding scientific excellence, and unwavering dedication to community service and the shaping of different learned societies.”
Neil H. Shubin (University of Chicago), a leading evolutionary biologist, science communicator and friend of the zebrafish has been elected as the next NAS President.
Marija Moosajee (University College London) has been awarded the Lang Medal from the Royal Society of Medicine.
Rashmi Priya (Francist Crick Institute, London) has won the 2026 Women in Cell Biology Early Career Medal from the British Society for Cell Biology.
Sylvie Rétaux (Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience) has been appointed to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honour.
Berta Verd (Oxford University, UK) has been selected as a EMBO Young Investigator
Michael Orger (Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme) has been named a 2025 Simons Foundation Pivot Fellow.
Maureen McKeague (McGill University, Montreal Canada) has been awarded the Melanie O’Neill New Investigator Award for a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to biological chemistry or biophysical methods.
Periklis (Laki) Pantazis (Imperial College London) won the 2025 Royal Microscopical Society Scientific Achievement Award.
