Martineau & Associates is excited to announce an opening for a Software Engineer to join our dynamic team.  As pioneers in designing computer vision instruments that redefine our understanding of the living world, we are on the lookout for a candidate who thrives in a start-up environment, resonates with our mission, and is passionate about harnessing end-to-end JavaScript for innovative video capture, processing, and replay via web browsers. If you have an undying curiosity for computational ethology and are eager to make a mark in the world of medical research, we want to hear from you!  

Core Responsibilities:

  • Software development within an existing extensive JavaScript codebase.

  • Front end: Design and implement user-facing interfaces.

  • Full stack: Enhance the capabilities of the backend servers and databases (ideal but not mandatory).

  • Craft detailed documentation for software functionalities.

  • Develop, test, and maintain API functionalities and related documentation.

  • (Desirable) Contribute to the expansion of our image analysis algorithm library.

  • (Desirable) Augment real-time data processing capabilities.

Qualifications:

 Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in JavaScript.

  • Proficiency working with git.

  • Familiarity with team-based code development and review processes.

  • Drive for code quality over quantity.

  • Experience with Linux.

  • Understanding of the LAMP stack.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in computer science.

  • Ability to understand or familiarity with MatLab / Octave code.

  • Experience with the YUI3 framework (higher priority) and Liquibase.

  • Comfort using Emacs and other development tools.

  • Familiarity with popular web development frameworks.

  • Experience working with GitLab or GitHub.

  • Knowledge of DevOps and experience with large-scale deployment.

  • Experience with containerization

  • Proficiency in programming with web sockets.

  • Experience with other Linting tools.

  • Understanding of the LAMP stack and the ability to interpret and modify PHP code, as well as grasp MySQL code.

  • Familiarity with C.

  • Proficiency with the Java Runtime Environment.
