PCOM is seeking a research assistant to participate in a neuroscience research program. Job responsibilities include conducting and coordinating research, and assisting with zebrafish and mouse husbandry. Coordinating the research laboratory will necessitate organizing research projects, overseeing and training research students, and general laboratory maintenance. To proficiently conduct research, the candidate must be skilled in molecular biology techniques (microscopy, protein biochemistry, genotyping/PCR, etc.), cell culture, and animal experimentation. Responsibilities regarding zebrafish care and use in research necessitates working closely with members of the Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) and other zebrafish researchers to ensure the proper care and use of zebrafish in research. The candidate must be able to multitask, be detail oriented, and work well independently and in a team environment. The candidate will be evaluated by productivity in moving projects forward and by effectively working with the team.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. This position requires 6-10 years of experience; or Master’s degree in Science and a minimum of 4-8 years of experience.
