The Center of PhenoGenomics (CPG) is the Center overseeing animal experimentation at EPFL. It contributes to the research excellence by supporting the scientific community through tailored services and by ensuring the highest animal welfare standards in compliance with laws and ethics. To strengthen its team the CPG is looking for a highly motivated and organized project manager to support a wide range of research programs involving zebrafish.

Your mission:

The project manager will lead and/or assist EPFL and non-EPFL researchers using zebrafish as a model system to ensure successful experiments.

Main duties and responsibilities:

This position will support and perform a variety of laboratory research, education and outreach activities and tasks may include (depending on the project needs):

  • Screening, maintenance and breeding of zebrafish colonies (mutants and transgenic lines).
  • Generation of genetically modified animals (transgenesis, gene knock in-knock out).
  • Perform embryology procedures such as in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, micro-injection and micromanipulation (cell transplantation, cell dissociation).
  • Toxicity tests and drug screens using zebrafish embryos and larvae.
  • Conduct microscopy experiments (widefield, confocal or light sheets).
  • Mentoring of Ph.D. students, post-doctoral researchers, technical staff, etc.
  • Assist in the facility ongoing development, proposals for improvements, and staying abreast of technical and scientific advancements in the zebrafish field.
  • Participate to the smooth running of the facility.


  • Master degree in biology or a related field of life sciences.
  • Excellent technical skills with previous experience in phenotypic analysis of zebrafish embryos and/or adults.
  • Proficiency in designing and leading scientific projects, implementing the experimental protocol, troubleshooting and data analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Team worker with good communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential, knowledge of French would be an asset.
